Undefeated - The Toughest Bridge in the World
This train trestle have stood its ground for the last 100 years.
This fact doesn't deter some drivers from challanging the bridge about once a month. all of them fail.

Why close it? The bridge is not at fault!! Those signs are there for a reason! The video clearly shows what happens when you fail to obey street signs!

Because trucking companies hire retards that can't even READ, why should the tax payers fork out for a swing bridge? Answer to the problem is to actually TEST truckers, if they can't read English, they don't drive...it's not rocket science for Christ's sake!!

"cos they don;t have to, it's against the Human Rights Act to expect immigrants to even speak English let alone read, before they come here.

Oh I have an idea, how about you just carve out a couple feet out of the road so it sinks under the bridge, start the down slop a bit back allowing for a smooth down under and up the road.
Total cost: 1/1000 of what you'd spend clearing up those crashes =/

The flashing lights indicate that the height of the trucks are too high for the bridge! Plain, and simple.

Oct-25-2012 (#15689) By: Anonymous
It's easier than that. Drivers should learn to read and they should know the required clearance height of the vehicle they drive.

Or simply have drivers follow the rules of the road. Every single one of those drivers should not be holding a licence.
If the trucks crash into the bridge, then the drivers should be made liable for the cleanup operation.

The lights were clearly flashing which means the truck was too high. It's driver error. Plain and simple.

There is a riddle, how can a lorry pass under such bridge without any technical modification either of the bridge or the truck if it is just a matter of about 2 cm? The solution was so simple, that it was given by a 8-year old girl.
Anyone?

Flip the space time framework of the vehicle by 180 degrees. That way it could even pass though a solid wall! Easy if you know how.

If it's happening repeatedly for years, it's kind of dumb to say "drivers should know better" and leave it at that. It's fine to believe they should read the signs, but clearly something needs to be changed for public safety. Eventually, one of these accidents is going to kill someone in the car following. It's stupid to sit there and watch public safety repeatedly jeopardized.

Kill someone following, eh?? Keep the safe distance and you will be alright, remember your Drivers training or you paid under the table to get your driving permit?

That's right, those are probably people renting moving companies' trucks. They drive cars on the daily basis and so choose to ignore the height restrictions signs.

The thing is that there were no tractor trailers hitting that bridge (at least in the video... it's probably happened). Truck drivers see those signs, and since they're typically 13'6", they get off the road. Those straight trucks mostly looked like they were driven by people who don't know their vehicle well enough to know how tall it was.
